Protect Your Cell Phone This Holiday Season
If you're out doing last minute Christmas shopping, be aware of your surroundings, and don't use cell phones in public more than necessary.
This year, there's been a rise in robberies targetting distracted cell phone users. If you have the latest model cell phone (like the iPhone 4S), flashing it en transit or while you wait in line might be an invitation for others to rob you, signalling wealth, or even just drawing desire for the cell phone.
Be aware of who's watching your cell phone, and don't get too absorbed in Angry Birds. Instead, make sure that you get home safely for the holidays. Wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing a friend, as well as keeping to well-lit, populated areas can keep you safe.
Remember: Used cell phones are a safe alternative, and a cheap replacement if yours gets stolen. Having an older used cell phone model for emergencies is completely affordable (as long as it's charged, you can cell 911 whether or not the number is on a plan).
And if you can't help put get distracted by your cell phone in long holiday lines, remember that used cell phones are a great, cheap alternative that will really excite the kids, especially if it's their first used cell phone.
