Apple Recalls Used iPods Nanos

Apple's 1st gen iPod nano, with a black or white front and silver back, is being recalled. With more use, iPod batteries (at least in early models) overheat and can cause damage or burns.

What's good to know is that the used iPods are still around—they originally came out in late 2005, so the fact that it's worth having a recall now is deeply telling about the quality of used iPods, including the nano.

Now, iPods can be used for all sorts of purposes. Unlike the original, who's main function was playig mp3s, iPods are used for games, connecting to the internet, and personal organization.

Of course, music is still the primary function of iPods, they're just much smaller! Used iPods can be strapped to the wrist or ankle for sports or travel on public transit, and they fit more songs than ever.

AND, you can find a great refurbished iPod to replace your first gen nano, if you still have it. Affordable, durable, classic, used iPods are great for kids as well as the frugal Apple lover.

If you want function, go for the used iPod touch, which offers apps and internet connectivity. Just want music? Update to the latest used iPod nano or shuffle, either of which are super useful on the go!
