Save Rare Earth Elements! Recycle Used Cell Phones!

Recycle Used Cell Phones!

Whether you drop your old used cell phones in a bin at the electronics store or mail them in to an online retailer, make sure you don't throw them out!

Most people are aware that recycling is a great way to keep landfills small, avoid toxic pollution caused by electronics like used cell pones in landfills, and to reuse our limited resources. But few are aware of how fast we are using certain key ingredients in all of our gadgets, including used cell phones.

Rare earth metals, including lanthunum, europium, erbium, and neodymium, are in televisions, your used cell phones, your gaming consoles, your e-readers…and they're hard to mine, of limited quantity, and getting used up faster and faster.

The US has already used most of our store of rare earth metals, and now China is supplying a large percentage of the worlds key components to used cell phones and more.

It's important that you not throw rare earth metals away, or in other words, recycle your used cell phones and other electronics! If you like living in a tech world, then preserve the means of making it through recycling. Plus, some recycling programs give out used cell phones to battered women's shelters and marines, so your good deed may go extra far!
