5 Reasons You Want Unlocked Cell Phones
If you don't already know all about unlocked cell phones, here's a bit of information on why unlocked cell phones are the thing to have:
- No Fees. When you buy unlocked cell phones, you aren't generally buying from the carrier, who makes their phones "free" by attaching contracts and hidden fees. Although unlocked cell phones may cost more up front, they can help save you money in the long run.
- Freedom. "Unlocked Cell Phones" means the phone is unlocked from whatever carrier normally distributes it, and can be used on any GSM network. No contracts means you can take your unlocked cell phones onto any network that suits you, whether they have the best service in your area, or the price that's right for you.
- No junk. Many carriers load cell phones up with junky apps they're trying to force on you (whether for the NFL, other services provided by the carrier that are often free or better elsewhere, or otherwise). On unlocked cell phones, you can remove those apps, leaving more room for music, games, and other data.
- No Locks. Unlocked cell phones are, well, unlocked. Anything the carrier may have added to dictate how you'll use the phone can be thrown out. This is particularly relevant to phones using Android, whose open platform could be a great thing for consumers, but is often hijacked by carriers as an easy way to customize the phone to their desires, rather than yours.
- Street Cred. No one has to know you bought your phone already unlocked. Seem smarter, and earn points with the tech lovers in your life when you tell them you have unlocked cell phones.
