How to Explain Unlocked Cell Phones To Your Mom
Your mom. Your grandma. Your tech challenged uncle. All of these people are probably getting regularly ripped-off by phone carriers because all they have to go on when buying a cell phone is advertisements and commissioned sales people. I bet you know at least one relative who thought they were buying the latest and greatest cell phone, when really they were buying a glitchy POS that was marketed as hot.
If you love your mom, tell her about unlocked cell phones. You’ll probably have to help her buy one too. And I bet your grandmum will love the value of used and refurbished cell phones. Here’s how to explain used cell phones to any relative you love enough to help them save money:
Mom, I know you love [her favorite carrier] because (choose one: dad’s work uses it/it’s the only one that gets reception in our house/the TV told you to) but you could really use an updated phone, that brick from 1999 barely works anymore.
You might like an unlocked cell phone, which is a cell phone that has been modified to work on any network, so we can choose from almost any cell phone on the market to find one that will be easy for you to use, and you can put it right on your favorite carrier.
We can also look at the used cell phones market, which will allow us to save money–a value you taught me. A new refurbished Blackberry, for example, carries none of the fees or upgrade cost/wait that the carrier would enforce, and some salesperson isn’t going to confuse you into buying the most expensive cell phone just because it comes in pink. (Pink phones are also available, and much cheaper, on the used cell phones market).
Cellular Trendz used cell phones comes with a guarantee, and they even have a repair program for after you (choose one: leave it in the freezer/loose it in the washer/leave it on top of the car). Best of all, they have all sorts of unlocked cell phones, including iPhones, HTC, and Blackberry.
If you do a really good job of explaining it, maybe your mom will buy you your next unlocked cell phone too!
