What You Need To Know Before Purchasing A Used Cell Phone
Buying a used cell phone can require a little more effort on your part to make sure you get the best deal available. Not all used cell phones may be in the best condition, or they may be missing features that a new cell phone offers. Some used cell phones can also be locked into one specific mobile service, which can end up costing you more money if you have to switch providers. Knowing what to look for before you make your purchase is the best way to ensure you find exactly what you want.
Determine What Model Cell Phone You Are Interested In
There are literally hundreds of different models of cell phones on the market. It can be daunting to try and find the perfect match for your needs. Even the used Blackberry market is full of numerous options. Before you begin your search for a used cell phone, narrow down exactly what models appeal to you. Important things to look for are the features you need, such as internet or e-mail service, the style that you find attractive, and the accessories available for that model.
Don’t limit your choice to just one cell phone - you may find that the model you choose isn’t supported by your service provider, or has a major flaw in its design. Keeping your options open will make it much easier for you to find a used cell phone that you both love and will be able to use.
Do Your Research
Not all cell phones are supported by all mobile service providers. You can end up finding the deal of a lifetime on the perfect used cell phone - and then find out that it’s locked for use with one specific carrier. If you happen to be with another carrier, you have to cancel your current plan, which can cost you hundreds, and switch to the other carrier to use your cell phone. Otherwise, the phone is completely worthless.
You should be able to find out what the cell phone can do, how it was used and how well it was cared for - or at the very least the current condition of the phone. Be sure to ask about any defects the phone may have, including flaws in the phone’s features. Also find out if the phone has been dropped, or if there are any scratches on the phone’s surface or screen. If you can, try and get a warranty for at least 90 days, to give you a chance to find out if there are any problems with the cell phone during usage.
Used cell phones are a great way to save you money, and with these guidelines, you should be able to find exactly what you’re looking for. With the money you save, you may find yourself being able to buy "new" cell phones more often - which can be a great way to satisfy your need for the hottest and newest cell phones!
