Researching a Refurbished Cell Phone

Refurbished cellular phones are becoming increasingly popular among consumers. They are a great way to afford the cell phone you've always wanted to own, without spending hundreds of dollars to get it. Of course, some retailers use the term "refurbished" lightly, and may not offer the quality or the price you should expect from a refurbished cellular phone.

Researching the phone you want to buy before you spend the money is the best way to know you're getting a good phone that works. The best place to find quality refurbished phones is from the manufacturers themselves, or from any retailer who offers refurbishes cellular phones that come directly from the mobile providers. When you find a phone you hope to purchase, ask questions. Find out what condition the phone is in, and try to find out what problems there were with the phone before it was refurbished.  Although you will likely never get the answer, it may be worth it to ask how many people owned the phone before it made it to their store. Ask about any cosmetic flaws or defects that may cause any issues with the phone's appearance or usability.

Whenever you purchase a used cell phone, you should always try to get a warranty. Even 30 days is enough time to test the phone out and see if it works as well as you were promised. With a warranty, if the phone turns out to be of a lower quality than you initially were told, you will be able to return the phone for a refund, or for a different phone that works the way you had intended.
